Advanced dance students will improve their ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, and move within the curriculum of various movement genres with the intension of self-mastery. This is in accordance with the blueprint for California and national visual/performing advanced dance content standards.
Students will multi-task in exploration, sharing, and analysis of various dance forms, compositional problem-solving and choreography in oral discussion, note-taking, reflections, critiques, essays, and research using technology as a medium to build character and prepare for college and lifelong careers in dance or a related field of interest.
Advanced dancers are expected to attend classes daily in dress code for guided instruction in multiple dance techniques (e.g., hip hop, ballet, modern, jazz, and ethnic dance). Dancers are required to perform in the annual spring dance production and in school and community functions. Technology (dance website and concept videos) and written work are required.
