Athlete Participation & Eligibility

Participating in athletics at El Camino High School is a great way for students to stay active, build teamwork, and show school pride. To ensure a safe and successful experience, all student-athletes must meet eligibility requirements and complete the registration process before participating.
Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Complete Online Registration

Before trying out or joining a team, all student-athletes must complete online registration through SportsNet.

What to do:

  • Create or update your account on SportsNet

  • Complete all required forms

  • Upload a current physical (required every year)

  • Ensure all signatures are completed by both student and parent/guardian

Important Note

Returning Athletes:
Select “Edit Registration” and update all required fields.

New Athletes:
Select “Begin New Registration” and complete all sections.

Step 2: Get Cleared to Participate

To be cleared for athletics, students must:

  • Complete SportsNet registration

  • Submit a valid physical signed by a medical professional

  • Receive confirmation of clearance via email

Important:
All athletes must be cleared before the official start date. No exceptions.

Step 3: Know Your Season Start Dates

Fall Sports
(August 8, 2026 | Football: August 4, 2026)

Winter Sports
(November 3, 2026)

Spring Sports
(February 2, 2026)


Requirements

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in athletics, student-athletes must:

  • Be academically eligible (minimum 2.0 GPA and passing at least 4 classes)

  • Maintain good behavioral standing

  • Be cleared through SportsNet

  • Not participate in more than one sport per season

  • Complete any required transfer eligibility (if applicable)

  • Be under the age of 19 (per eligibility guidelines)

  • Clear any outstanding athletic-related obligations

Not meeting these requirements may result in loss of eligibility or team penalties.

Parent/Guardian Requirements

Parents/guardians must:

  1. Review all required documents

  2. Complete and sign forms in SportsNet

  3. Ensure the physical exam is completed and signed

  4. Submit all required materials
