As we begin the new school year, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight what makes El Camino High School (ECHS) a great place to learn, work, and to discover one’s full potential.
We have a proud tradition of academic excellence here at ECHS based on the pillars of commitment, trust, and resilience.
Our school is also focused on providing a relevant and rigorous, standards-based curriculum that helps prepare students for college and career. This includes such programs as culinary arts, dance, multimedia (e.g., video production and web design), biotech, and visual and performing arts.
Meanwhile, our teachers are working in collaborative teams to refine their curriculum, while using common rubrics to analyze and assess student proficiency and achievement. Dedicated staff members also provide support to students inside and outside the classroom.
With regard to technology, ECHS has formed a technology/data committee to review the current status of the school's hardware, software, and infrastructure.
Finally, our school offer 11 advanced placement (AP) courses including AP computer science, and we will continue to provide many opportunities for students to experience college-level learning and instruction through Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID) and other enrichment activities.
All of these elements will help to equip students with the 21st century skills needed to compete in a rapidly changing global economy.
