El Camino High School senior Gabrielle Lai (‘24) has received a Central Coast Section (CCS) Scholar-Athlete Scholarship for the 2023-24 school, which entitles her to a $500 scholarship.

Gabrielle boasts a 4.55 GPA and plans to attend UCLA, where she will major in biology/neuroscience.

She was a member of the Colts’ swimming and diving team for four years and cross-country team for three years.

“I had the privilege of teaching Gabrielle in AP World History, where she consistently dedicated herself to learning and exploring the content,” said El Camino High Assistant Principal Chris Laveglia. “Gabrielle's passion for biology and neuroscience is noticeable, and she aspires to become a neurologist. This ambition, coupled with her resilience in facing challenges head-on, makes her an ideal candidate for the CCS scholarship.”

The CCS Scholar-Athlete award is given to one male and one female athlete from each of the eight leagues that comprise the Central Coast Section.

Student-athletes are nominated by their schools and forwarded to the respective athletic league their high school competes in for selection.

El Camino High competes in the Peninsula Athletic League (PAL).
